About RLPRichard Lock
An Award Winning Photographer, Richard is as passionate about photography today as he was (ummmm a few years ago) when he was given his first Canon SLR camera for his 14th birthday! For Richard, photography is not just a job, but a passion that has shaped and enhanced his entire life.
His unique style of reportage photography, has been greatly influenced by his love, and observations of people, nature and the many cultures and landscapes he has witnessed and photographed throughout the world. These range from his travels by train across the entire Indian Sub Continent, through to the wonders of the underwater world, beneath the Seas and Oceans of our planet.
Richard is an active supporter of a number of Marine Conservation organisations, such as The Shark Trust, and The Orca Society. He has supported them by way of his underwater images, most recently with his work being published in the book ‘Sharks of The British Isles’.
Today he lives in a village in The New Forest National Park with his wife and daughter.
Above everything else, Richard loves being with, and around people, which is why he still has such a passion for wedding, and portrait photography.
‘ Despite photographing more weddings than I can remember, there is still nothing else quite like a wedding to give me that buzz and excitement. Wedding photography is one of, if not the most challenging types of photography. You really do need to know what you are doing, and have experience to photograph a wedding correctly. There are no second chances. Great wedding photography is about creating wonderful images without effecting the natural ebb and flow of the day. I always work with my co photographer John (Stovell), who not only brings a different style of photography, which compliments my own, but because one person cannot be in two places at one time, also allows us to photograph a wedding in its entirety. We have photographed weddings in some fabulous and interesting locations, and we have had the privilege of meeting so many amazing and special people’

John began his photography career as a fashion photographer; he attended a training course run by Terence Donovan, widely acknowledged as one of the worlds finest fashion photographers. He soon became a keen wedding photographer and has worked with many other professionals in the area, initially trained at Kodak and inspired by wedding photographer George Dawber, and over 500 photographed weddings later, he is still as inspired as ever about wedding photography
Traditionally trained John’s experience and skills ideally compliment Richard’s reportage documentary approach. John says;
‘I like to think that Richard and I will give you everything you need on your special day. Not only are we great friends, but over the years we have formed such an understanding of how each of other work, it enables us to capture wonderful images quickly and efficiently with minimal impact on your day’l
